Abstract
Success of an organization is determined by its competitive advantages. These advantages include large market shares, high barriers to entry, non-substitutable products, low bargaining power of customers and suppliers, and rivalry among competitors. The top performing organizations today did not possess most of these advantages. Their competitive advantage, however, is their unique organizational culture.
The business environment today is changing more rapidly than ever. It is necessary to change the culture of an organization in order to adapt to these changes. It is also crucial to be updated on the current needs of the market and innovate the latest product, process or service that will address these needs. In order to do so, an organizational culture conducive to innovation is needed.
The study assessed the general organizational culture in the Philippines and in Australia. It determined what where the organizational culture factors that promoted or deterred the technological capabilities of the organizations that were assessed.
The study compared the organizational culture factors in the Philippines and Australia. It analyzed the factors why the Philippines is lagging behind Australia and other countries in terms of innovation.
The study found out that there were factors that Australian companies consider as facilitators of innovation that were severely lacking in organizations in the Philippines. These factors were the lack of orientation to research and technological learning.
The study also found out innovation is deterred in both Australian organizations and organizations in the Philippines by the bureaucratic processes of the organization.
The study recommended actions to take in order to bridge the gap of the Philippines with the technological development and innovation of Australia and other countries in attaining national development.
The study concludes that a culture of innovation is essential to the organization's success. It also concludes that national government is brought by the success of the nation's organizations.
