Abstract

Traditional project management (waterfall Method) has been around since 1970s, an up until now is being used by many projects across industries. Through time, many professionals has criticized this method due to its disadvantages. There had been many modifications in the traditional method but none of these can really eliminate all of them. In efforts to deviate from the problems brought by waterfall method, the Agile project management was formulated. In contrast to the linear approach of the waterfall method, Agile makes use of iterations and user feedback models. Although the Agile method has proven its worth, there are still many practitioners of the traditional method.

The aim of this paper is to produce a hybrid model, wherein the main back bone is the waterfall method but the model will incorporate some functionalities of the Agile methodology. Some of the concepts that will be drawn from Agile is its iterative nature and its user feedback model. This study will review previous hybrid models that has been published but never used, and will try to incorporate the learning from these other hybrid models and produce a better one. The research will make use of hypothesis testing and expert feedback. The Delphi method will be used against a panel of experts. Interviews will also be conducted to deduce their personal insights regarding the challenges they are experiencing as IT project managers and how this new hybrid model can help our industry.
