A business plan for i-ARC technologies : a "different" R&D company / Robert S. Dela Cruz

Year : 2004
Number of Pages : 49 leaves
Adviser : Dr. Roger D. Posadas

Executive Summary

This paper aims to put forward a business plan towards the development of a technology-based enterprise that designs and manufactures automation equipments. If we are to promote R&D in the private sector, it must be shown to be a way to generate profit. This profit could only be maximized if R&D could be focused into developing a product with a ready market through the establishment of a new enterprise. The plan is based on the efficient utilization of knowledge capital and the development of knowledge networks. A cost-efficient rapid product development methodology based on a virtual R&D network will be proposed. This is an alternative to the costly traditional R&D model that most Filipino SMEs cannot afford. After the development of a new product, successful commercialization will be supported by the development of other knowledge networks. The result will be a virtual organization composed of a core technology competency supported by knowledge networks in marketing, manufacturing and sales. Continuous learning and innovation is also promoted as the key to business competitiveness and growth.
